Otautahi Tattoo Queenstown was opened in November 2013 by Brad Cone and Jeremy Hill. The name “Otautahi” comes from the original shop in Christchurch — Otautahi being the Māori name for Christchruch
After the devastating Christchurch earthquakes on February 11th, 2011, which destroyed many homes and businesses, Brad relocated the studio and its artists to Auckland. A few years later, Brad and Jeremy teamed up to open a new studio in Queenstown, a place they both fell in love with for its energy, people, and natural beauty.
Since then, Otautahi Queenstown has become a destination studio for locals and travellers from around the world. With a diverse team of talented artists, we offer a wide range of tattoo styles — including traditional Māori tattooing. We are proud to be the only tattoo studio in Queenstown that offers authentic Māori and Polynesian art. Our two cultural artists, Ren and Rua, are internationally recognised for their Ta Moko, Kirituhi, and mixed cultural designs. Each piece is freehanded and deeply personal, telling the client’s story through meaningful, custom artwork — and people travel from all over the world to have these created here in Queenstown.
We’re also a popular stop for backpackers wanting a small souvenir tattoo to take a bit of Queenstown home with them. Whether it’s a simple design, a fun matching tattoo with friends, or a group tattoo to mark a special trip — we love helping people create lasting memories of their time here.
Our studio is more than just a workplace — it’s our family. We’re a tight-knit team who genuinely love what we do, and we’re passionate about creating a space that’s welcoming, fun, and memorable for everyone who walks through our doors.
